Be a LLL Ambassador!

In revamping the Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL) Ambassadors program, we’re shifting from traditional job descriptions to a dynamic, relational approach. We’ve recognized that young adults aren’t drawn to rigid molds or prescriptive roles. Instead, they value authenticity, flexibility, and the opportunity to grow into their potential naturally.

Rather than imposing a structure, we are focusing on meeting young adults where they are at in their faith and in their church life and offering meaningful opportunities to connect with our mission. These include:

  • Youth Gathering Servant Events: Hands-on experiences that immerse young adults in service and collaboration while representing LLL.
  • Intergenerational Mentorship: Opportunities to engage with and learn from multiple generations within the church, empowering young leaders to share their faith and make a difference.
  • Mission Service Opportunities: Offering young adults the chance to participate in impactful service projects, both locally and internationally.
  • Summer Internships: Connecting with young adults who work with us during the summer, allowing them to experience our mission firsthand and build a foundation for deeper engagement.

Through these experiences, we are introducing young adults to the heart of our work. By investing in them and fostering relationships, we’re praying that they will feel inspired to become LLL Ambassadors organically, sharing our mission in their own unique and meaningful ways. This relational approach aligns with our vision of equipping the next generation to share the Gospel, not by fitting into a mold, but by stepping into their God-given calling as representatives of Christ.

Our Ambassadors in Action!

The members of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Barrie Ontario, ushered out the Church year with Worship followed by a fellowship potluck and Advent preparations. Over 200 Advent outreach gift bags were prepared for member seniors and shut-ins, residents at Martin Luther Court Retirement Community and for the young families of Open Arms Early Childhood Centre. Advent bags for seniors included "Come Let Us Adore Him,” devotions and bible verse bookmarks. “The Joy of God's Presence" weekly family devotional was given in the bags for the Open Arms families. These bags also included a QR code bookmark to take them to the LLL website for bonus activities. The Week One “Good News Roll” craft supplies for bonus activities were distributed later. Other treats include tea, hot chocolate, cookies, and a pastoral invitation to their regular church activities and Christmas services.

Lisa Jackson, Managing Director, recently held a Spiritual Conversations Workshop at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in London, Ontario to help address the reluctance to talk about our faith. Participants received a copy of The Reluctant Witness, and Jane Jacob, Director on our LLL Board, has been following up to provide additional support.

“At Lutheran Early Learning Centers in Saskatchewan, we have the opportunity to send home children’s books with up to 128 unchurched children from the Lutheran Laymen’s League. It’s wonderful that the gospel has entered these homes and we are so thankful for the resources! I am constantly refilling the “Connect” rack at our church. We have one gentleman who frequently visits friends and takes resources when out for coffee with them.”

"For the past 15ish years I've been blest to use LHM's free online God Connects course. It has been wonderful for those investigating what the Lutheran Church teaches both for those becoming an Adult member or as a blessed refresher for those for whom Confirmation was more than a few years ago.

Each lesson starts with a video clip, (for those who learn more visually) and ends with a question and answer section (a catechetical auditory feel). There are many extras online for deeper study that encourages each participant to use their own Bible and Catechism."

"I just wanted to let you know how much the Lectionary learning pages are appreciated by our entire congregation. On Reformation Sunday I was so inspired by the supplement explaining Luther's Rose! So inspired that I spontaneously used it as a "lesson" after the service for everyone attending. It helps to bring the old language of the bible & forgotten catechism lessons to everyone in a way that is easy to absorb. We currently have one child attending services, so there is no Sunday School. This was a way to incorporate a little bit of Sunday School into the service yet not be too childish for the adults. My "lesson" was so well received that I have been asked to add this lesson to every Worship service from now on! Thank-you for helping us reach out & connect to our entire congregation, you are awesome!"

"Hello Lisa, I wanted to reach out to sincerely thank you and the Lutheran Laymen's League for the Illuminated Catechism. It is a truly lovely book, and an amazing resource to support confirmation. My son finds memorization to be somewhat stressful at times -but with this version of the catechism, he can be colouring and doodling while he learns and memorizes. This book adds a layer of enjoyment to his confirmation learning that will hopefully impact him for life. Thank you for such a beautiful and thoughtful resource."

Our French Lutheran resources were enjoyed recently in Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya! They were gifted to theological students attending Lutheran School of Theology and used to teach the Catechism to African Lutherans so they in turn can be teachers of the Christian Faith! LLL Canada is the only place in the world that you can obtain a French version of the Illuminated Catechism, we were delighted to share this beautiful resource.

St. John's Lutheran Church in Vernon, BC has just moved into a new church location, and they are ready to bring HOPE 🙏🥰 to their community through Project Connect! Project Connect is an indispensable, on-site, booklet ministry resource of topical booklets. Each of the more than 50 booklets available is written from a Christian perspective and addresses a variety of topics, from forgiveness and the after-life to depression and anger management. There are also some booklets for equipping your congregation's members to share their faith!

"We appreciated all the Project Connect booklets that we used as gifts for our VBS families. We had great feedback from all the families we served about our VBS and it was a great connection point, giving them the booklets for their children. We asked them to pass them on to other families when they were done using them, so who knows how many children will read those encouraging booklets!"
